Welcome

Forest City, Iowa

Welcome to Forest City, Iowa!

On behalf of the City of Forest City and our residents, we welcome you to our home town… “Where Nature’s Close and Friends are Closer.“

Whatever your reason for traveling to Forest City, business or pleasure, we offer a wide variety of activities for you and your family to enjoy during your stay.

During the warmer months, enjoy 29 miles of hiking and biking trails throughout our 7 parks (including Pilot Knob State Park), 26 miles of canoeing and kayaking down the Winnebago River, a disc golf course, our 18-hole Bear Creek Golf Course, 3 campgrounds, Family Aquatic Center, Winnebago Industries' Visitor's Center & Tours, and so much more.

During the winter months, we offer a community ice skating rink, sledding and over 2 miles of cross country skiing trails that traverse through our parks and offer restaurants along the trail.

All year long enjoy our municipal library, YMCA, multiple churches, good restaurants, comfortable lodging, and a home-town shopping experience.

If you enjoy history, be sure to visit Heritage Park, the Mansion Museum, and the Veterans Memorial at the Courthouse Square, or pick up a copy of our self-guided Downtown Historical Architecture Walking Tour.

Something fun is always happening in Forest City, and I invite you to take advantage of our many attractions, entertainment and always popular Chamber of Commerce events including “Puckerbrush”, our annual town festival, in addition to the many activities offered by our Parks & Recreation Department.

Forest City is proud to be the home of Waldorf College.  Waldorf College offers a quality educational experience, a fine arts series that offers quality cultural experiences for our visitors and community.  We are also home to two Fortune 500 companies, Winnebago Industries and 3M, as well as over 150 local businesses ready to serve you.

Enjoy your visit to Forest City!
