Reports and Links

Police reports which are public record as defined by Iowa Law are available for review at the police department. Copies of police reports which are public record may be obtained at the police department during normal business hours. There are fees for copies of police records. See below for a listing of the cost of copies of police records.

Requests for copies of police reports will be completed as soon as possible, depending on the scope of the request. The amount of time the police department requires to complete requests for copies may by affected by the media involved, the date of the incident, and the information available to the police department to make a records search.

When the police department receives a request by phone for a particular public record, the Department will attempt to locate the requested document. People making requests for public record should supply as much information as possible, including date of incident, time of incident, officer involved, and any other pertinent information. Once the public document is located, the requesting party must then send a self addressed, stamped envelope to the police department with the a written request for the document.

Fees for reports are as follows:

1. Requests for copies of public records are $1.00 per page.
2. Accident reports - $4.00
